The Mclean County Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission Speakers’ Bureau can provide
knowledgeable speakers who can address your conference, lecture, or school event
and tell you about the life and legacy of Abraham Lincoln in McLean County.
The
bureau is made up of Commissioners as well as members of the Community and includes
local Lincoln scholars, teachers and collectors who are united in their interest
in the 16th president and the role that Bloomington-Normal played in President Lincoln's
legal, political and personal life.
Each speaker has their own listing which provides
contact information, along with information on whether speaker’s topics, as well
as what types of programs they present.

Greg Koos
Koos is the Executive Director of the McLean County Museum of History.
"Walking in Lincoln's Downtown Bloomington"-This architectural and historical walking tour looks at the buildings and history of Downtown Bloomington with an emphasis on Abraham Lincoln.

Robert J. Lenz
Lenz is a 1959 and 1963 graduate of the University of Illinois and its law school. An attorney since 1963, Lenz is a former member of the University of Illinois Board of Trustees. Lenz is the chairman of the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission of McLean County, Vice-President of the Abraham Lincoln Association, and Past President of the David Davis Mansion Foundation.

Robert Bray
Bray is the R. Forrest Colwell Professor of English at Illinois Wesleyan University, where he has taught for thirty-seven years. His PhD in Literature is from the University of Chicago. He has published widely (books & articles) on Midwestern Literature, Caribbean Literature, & Abraham Lincoln. His most recent book is Peter Cartwright: Legendary Frontier Preacher (Illinois 2005). He is currently finishing a monograph on Lincoln's reading and with Nancy Steele Brokaw, has just completed a drama in ten scenes called Lincoln's In Town!.

Roger D. Bridges
Bridges received his PhD in History from the University of Illinois at Champaign/Urbana. He has taught at Bradley University, University of South Dakota, University of Illinois at Springfield, Bowling Green State University, & Illinois State University. He is also the Executive Director Emeritus of the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Center, Past President of the Abraham Lincoln Association, and past director of the Illinois State Historical Library. Bridges is the author of numerous articles on Lincoln, Civil War, Illinois, & African Americans, as well as an editor with Rodney Davis of Illinois: Its History and Heritage.

Carl M. Adams
Adams earned a BA in Broadcast Journalism from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville in 1979. He served as a Captain and training Officer in both the Marines and the Army and included military history lessons in his military classes. Adams has worked on a case study for over twelve years of every aspect of Nance Legins-Costley. Legins-Costley (1813-1873) is the only African American female to appeal to the State Supreme Court three times for her "personal liberty". Legins-Costley eventually won her freedom after a fifteen year struggle, with the help of Abraham Lincoln.
